Suggestion for new phone
I'm coming to the end of my contract and I can now get a new contract and a spanking new phone. Only problem is I'm not sure which one to go after, I was thinking something like the HTC Diamond 2
or the iPhone 3g s
Are there any other phones I should consider? I'm after something that's great for music, internet (but not that important) and possibly GPS for when I go abroad.
Any ideas?

As someone who has to fix phones on a daily basis, I plead with you to not buy a swiss army knife of a phone!!!

I went through this same dilemma a few months back, after four years of trusty service from a Nokia 6170. And the answer from my friend, who sells phones but more importantly deals with people returning them with faults was as follows:
iPhone - shitastic
Nokia N Series - constructed entirely from glass
Nothing to say about the HTC, but the one they hardly ever see returned is...Samsung. If you want bells and whistles, I think the G5 is their fancy model.
In conclusion, that 3310 looks sweet as and I wish I still had mine.

My reccomendation would be the Philips 4111-12. It features an easy to read display screen and for the busy executive who's always on the run, it even features the patented Go Anywhere carry hanlde for convenience. With an amazing battery life, it takes merely days to fully charge and for that you get over 4 hours standby time and almost a whole hour talk time!
See below for product reviews.
"It's so convenient, I sometimes forget it's even by my side! And people always notice how important I look with my handy mobile phone machine."

Battery life on that beast must be impressive and by the look of it, it has a speaker grill on the right? so technically I could do loudspeaker calls... interesting.
It only weighs 4.3kgs, but it seems eBay are fresh out.
Also it seems our first post of nudity on the UD site is of a dude with a strong right arm, slighty concerning

The Nokia phones I've never been a fan of for some reason, I've used Sony Ericsson for sometime and never had any issues but at the moment they just don't have anything out which I'm interested in.

It is a widely accepted viewpoint that the 'N' in the Nokia range stands for 'Nightmare'

Re: Suggestion for new phone
every 'all singing all dancing' phone ive owned has been total shiiiiiite.
nokia have disappeared up their own asses with their quality
iphone is just a ngage with downloadable software instead of stick.
i stay on the simple phone tip now, far happier than my mates that have said 'all singers'
i have played with the new android softwared tmobile G1 which was quicker than the iphone in all departments, but on the downside, was as big as a house. hiden keyboard was great tho.

from the reviews ive read, they suggest we all wait for the next android phone to come out.
im samsung all the way, G600, it does the 4 things i need, internet(mobile facebook lol) phonecalls, text messages, and a 5mp camera to snap my tattoos. simple phone for a simple mind.

Pipes got the right idea!
An IQ test should accompany all contract forms, then most handset issues wouldn't exist. ID10T is the most common fault, and suggested remedy? Install new user...

Re: Suggestion for new phone
Yeah i've heard many a good thing about the T1, the G2 mockup looks great but as we all know usually they don't always live up to the hype I might hang on and see what it's like. I've heard the Sony Ericsson were supposed to do an android phone but god knows when that will come out.
However this is what it will look like:
It looks a bit chunky! could someone explain to me what makes an android phone different? is it just a different operating system to Windows Mobile and Symbian??

This is the mockup which I would buy if it came out like so:

totally different, google android is their own running system, i watched a test on the net somewhere and it beat the iphone in every department, i played with one myself and i loved it, but it is f huge and f heavy, so its actually good for a self defence weapon too

Re: Suggestion for new phone
Mobile phones are coming full circle - started massive, then got smaller...smaller...and so small that certain people (ahem) with large hands couldn't send a text without including a message's worth of extra letters. But now they're growing again, they have actual keyboards, and my bet is that Henry has just predicted the future of mobile phones is, indeed, the past.

I know you guys will be seething but in the end I went with the iPhone
So far so good I'm impressed at the stuff it does, plus it looks very snazzy. I'll be taking it with me to Cov for a beach themed 21st.
